These bosses will start showing up throughout the Fall after Hunter’s Mark goes live. An official entry will be added to the wiki once we have the initial system online. Here is a summary of how it will work.
What makes a Boss, a Boss?
There are dungeon chambers and points of interest across the map that have been dubbed “home” by Britannia’s most terrifying residents. These creatures spawn infrequently, have powerful special moves, and have the opportunity to drop the most amount of wealth out of all creatures, including a new item; ancient doubloons.
Boss Encounter Summary
- When a boss spawns, a global broadcast goes out, notifying you that a boss spawned. Each boss has it’s own unique message or clue as to where you might find it. Learn what each message means to locate that specific boss.
- Most bosses spawn in mountless regions or regions where mounts have little impact (e.g. the ocean).
- When a boss is slain, a global broadcast goes out, notifying everyone who slayed (kill shot) the boss.
- Bosses drop ancient doubloons among other loot ranging from gold, to magical items, gems, and treasure maps.
Examples of Bosses
There are a few initial boss monsters that can spawn with the system upon release. They are: an ethereal Tortoise, the escaped Death Knight from Khaldun, a deadly Leviathan, the mysterious Nessy, and the worst of them all, the unspeakable Tarrasque.
Ancient Doubloons
When a boss dies, they will drop a certain number of ancient doubloons. These doubloons can be exchanged for account, house, and character upgrades. These doubloons will be difficult to stockpile quickly but offer rewards you cannot get anywhere else.
Below is a short list of rewards we’ve come up with so far, but things will likely change by the time this publish goes live.
- Reduced BOD timer (“more BODs per day”)
- Bond a pet instantly.
- Additional friends and co-owner list slots for your home.
- Additional ban list slots for your home.
- Additional trash barrel to your home.
- Additional lockdowns and secures for your home.
- Message board add-on for your home.
- Bounty board add-on for your home.
- Add a 6th character slot to your account.
- Add a 7th character slot to your account. You must have the 6th slot unlocked first.
- House Butler who refreshes your home if it hits greatly worn. You can only have 1 butler at a time.
- PvP Book to keep track of your PvP kill shots and who has killed you.
- PvM Book to keep track of your PvM kills and total exposure to Tides of Power bestiary.
- Rogue’s List to keep a track of your recent successful steals, including what you stole, from whom, and the day & time.
- A Crafter’s Ledger to keep track of material usage (total valorite ingots, spined leather, nightshade, blank maps, etc)
