Tensions at Sea is an upcoming feature expansion patch on Tides of Power. This patch will be released in correlation to our 2026 storyline content: Courageous Exploration.
We won’t go into great details on how these items, NPCs, or features will be implemented, but we do want to give you a preview of what’s to come.
New Ocean Activities
- New Monsters – a handful of new water beasts will surface with the activity.
- Two Ocean Bosses – The ocean will feature two boss creatures.
- Active NPC Ships – Merchant boats, orc war boats, ratfolk and lizardfolk cargo boats will begin showing up in the ocean on reliable trade routes between major POIs. More information about how you’ll interact with these boats will be released later.
- Walkable Trash Debris Piles – These are temporary landmasses that form in the ocean with a treasure chest, monsters, and a stranded NPC. Think of them like the small orc or brigand camps that form in the world.

New Items
These items will be part of the loot table or linked to the Crafter’s Synergy expansion, also being released in the first half of 2026.
- The Deep Sea Fishing Net – a rare fishing net (multiple hues, varying rarity) which is used like a standard fishing net, except with a much more dangerous outcome.
- These nets can surface new beasts: an ancient sea serpent, an aboleth, cruul, or a kraken.
- You may find a locked, trapped pirate chest (50% chance.) with pirate booty. Including new items: a bowl of fish (+8 str, dex, int, for 2 minutes), pirate lute (new instrument ID and sound effect), and a bottle of hooch (hie).
- Ocean Fishing Net – This net drags nearby arrows, crossbow bolts, and monster corpses closer to your ship plank.
- Deep Sea Fishing Rod – This fishing rod works like the standard fishing pole with extra reach.
- The Rapid Rod – This fishing rod pulls fish out of the ocean in half the time!
- The Wizard’s Fishing Pole – This lightweight fishing pole stays in your hand, even when you cast spells!
- Metal Containers – New rusty, barnacle covered, golden metal, and pirate chest containers.

Sunken City Treasures
When you fish above certain former cities (Minoc, Moonglow, Vesper, Buc’s Den, Jhelom, and Cove), you have a small chance to get a sunken city treasure rare. As future events unfold, other sunken city treasures will start to surface. We’ll let the list of rares be a surprise for now.
Ocean Doubloons
Ocean Doubloons will spawn on ocean themed monsters from fished up treasure, on NPC ships, or on temporary floating debris fields.

Deco Rewards and Ship Upgrades
- Avatar Decor: a sword belt
- Avatar Decor: a mace belt
- Avatar Decor: an octopus necklace hum
- Home Decor: a broken bottle
- Home Decor: a spilling bag of coin
- Home Decor: a ship in bottle
- New Container: an oak barrel container

- Boat Hold Upgrade – Increase your ship’s max weight from 400 to 1000 stones.

When does this kick off?
There is no specific release date for this expansion but you can expect it to arrive in the Spring of 2026.
