Welcome to the first major story on Tides of Power!
Courageous Exploration is the name of the 2026 adventure that players will have the option to play through. There are approximately 20 chapters in total. We’ll release one every week or two, announcing the update on both the website and in Discord.
Certain chapters are “one and done” while other chapters will unlock new regions or spawns which remain in place even after the event concludes.
The adventure cannot be speed run as several of our roadmap updates are linked to this story.
Prologue
Welcome to the Castle in Britain. After the flood and the loss of Lord British, the agricultural and mining industries took over the castle, breaking down the western wall and improving accessibility to the farms and mountain range without traveling through the dangerous city streets.
As people re-established order, the castle became a building of the people. Admiral Jarvis has taken residence in the upstairs of the Castle, adjacent to the Scholar’s Library in Britain.
Scholars currently work late nights, reviewing ancient texts, searching for a way to reestablish contact with the distant cities of Papua and Delucia. Jarvis seeks brave and clever adventurers willing to aid this mission.
The scholars have identified a location of particular interest: Relvinian’s abandoned cottage and the 4 shrines hidden within the Hedge Maze.
Be warned, Relvinian was once a trusted confidant of Lord British, but long before the Flood, he fell into dangerous fascination with dark magic before vanishing into oblivion.
Those willing to serve should first seek Admiral Jarvis in the Castle at Britain. Speak with him. Learn what is required. Then prepare yourselves for the Hedge Maze.
When does it start?
The first chapter starts tonight, February 18th and will have a few updates along the way. I encourage you to follow along in Discord #shard-events or pay attention to in-game town criers. We will update the blog for each major chapter.
How the Adventure(s) Work?
For those who have never been on a “Boomland Jenkins” adventure, this might be new to you. Courageous Exploration is an original story for Tides of Power, where players must solve clues or explore specific locations in-game, in order to unlock the next chapter of the adventure.
Quest and NPCs with Personalities:
You will meet NPCs who will listen for keywords, or speak to you and offer you [choices] in brackets as keywords they will actively listen for. Other times, casual conversations can unlock easter eggs and extra knowledge.
Quest Objectives:
Most chapters will have an NPC with a quest scroll available to collect certain items or to slay monsters, but some will ask you to explore the world and complete a specific task. Oftentimes, the first player to complete the task receives a bonus reward.
Event Currency:
For this first adventure, “Papers for Admiral Jarvis” function as a pseudo quest currency. Collect them to provide to Admiral Jarvis when he requires them.
Rewards:
The reward varies from chapter to chapter but will generally be disclosed by the NPC offering the objective.
Chapter 1: What Happened at the Hedge Maze
Adventurers work tirelessly to uncover the incantation required to awaken Relvinian’s spirit. The words were learned with the help from a scholar in Britain.
Kal Wis An Ylem Corp
An epic battle broke out with the Wraith of Relvinian before his spirit was freed.
