Skill Title: Tamer

Skill Trainer: Animal Trainer

How to Use Animal Taming

Animal Taming enables players to domesticate wild creatures, allowing them to be used as pets or companions in battle.

Animal Taming skill is one of the more challenging to raise and master, as high-level creatures (such as dragons or nightmares) require a high skill level to tame and control.

Players with high Animal Taming can build a powerful army of pets, which can be used in both PvE and PvP situations. This skill is often paired with Animal Lore and Veterinary for maintaining pet health and managing their abilities. You can stable your pets with an animal trainer in any town.

A player who commands a group of the same animal type will receive a pack bonus. Having five of the same creature type will result in them doing nearly double damage in combat.

Pack Instinct

Tamers who wander around with multiple animals from the same pack will benefit from a bonus based on the total number of creatures in the pack. In order to qualify for the bonus, all pets must be within 2 tiles of the defending creature.

  • 5 Followers = 100% Bonus
  • 4 Followers = 75% Bonus
  • 3 Followers = 50% Bonus
  • 2 Followers = 25% Bonus

Skill Guide for Animal Taming

* Some players decide to stay at New Magincia all the way to GM taming.

  • Buy taming to 42 skill
Tame pretty much anything from 42 to 51 taming, it should go extremely quickly.
Tame Cougars up to 53.1 shown
Tame Panthers from 53.1 shown until 59.1 shown skill
Tame Grizzlies and Great Harts from 59.1 to 71.1 shown skill
Tame Bulls from 71.1 shown until GM – can do this at New Magincia farms

    — Alternately— You can tame scorpions at 47.1 shown & giant spiders at 59.1 shown skill in Compassion desert. You can place a small boat in the water next to the shrine.
    — For Speed— If you have another tamer or a friend that has taming, if they tame an animal first and release it the taming difficulty is increased by 6 points. This allows the training tamer to get more taming attempts.

    Example:
    – Original great heart difficulty is 59.1.
    – If a player tames and releases a great hart the taming difficulty for the next tamer is 65.1 shown skill.
    – Use this mechanic to fill in the gaps in between training levels (59.1 to 71.1) to speed up the taming process.
