Death in UO
Death in UO
Dying in UO is part of the experience. No one enjoys dying, but no one avoids death! The best thing you can do is to be prepared for death. Know what it means and how to handle it.
Dying in UO
When you die in UO, you become a ghost and your corpse remains in the World (for a limited time). Any items you were carrying that were not (blessed) or newbied will be on your corpse. Any players (and even certain NPCs) may loot items from your corpse.
If you were an incident player when you died, your corpse will be blue notoriety. This means that if anyone tries to loot your corpse, they will become a criminal (grey) for doing so.
7 minutes after you die, your body decays into bones, and at that time, anyone may take times from your corpse without repercussions. 7 minutes later, the bones decay and any remaining items are deleted.
Getting Resurrected
You’ll need to run around until you find a healer (or wandering healer), a Shrine with an ankh, or another player who has the ability to resurrect you with magery or healing skill. If you are a murderer, upon resurrection, you may take skill and stat loss, depending on how many short term murder counts you have.
When you resurrect, you’ll lose fame. You will also be very vulnerable, with only 10 hit points and a white robe covering your body. You can be killed immediately after being resurrected. It’s wise to resurrect with a friend nearby or somewhere safe, to avoid dying over and over again to your killer.
Body Recovery
The “fun” part of dying in UO… the mad dash back to your corpse before it decays or before someone finds it, and takes your items. After you resurrect, it is recommended to heal up and grab a light bag of supplies, just enough to make it to your corpse and recover your original equipment and loot.
Good luck, Adventurer!
