Ships and Boats

Boats on Tides of Power grant you access to the ocean as well as numerous island POIs. The most common reason to have a boat is for fishing up treasure from the MIBs system.

Buying Boats

You can purchase a ship from a town Shipwright NPC. The costs are as followed:

  • Small Ship: 40,354 gold.
  • Small Dragon Ship: 40,354 gold.
  • Medium Ship: 48,880 gold.
  • Medium Dragon Ship: 48,880 gold.
  • Large Ship: 64,656 gold.
  • Large Dragon Ship: 64,656 gold.

Boat Ownership and Security

You can own as many ships as you’d like. You can double-click the Tiller Man to name the ship if you’re holding the key.  Ships do not come with the same protections as homes. You cannot eject, ban, friend, or co-own anyone to your boat. If someone boards your ship, it’s up to you to decide their fate.

You can lock and unlock your ship by using the ship key on your plank.

You can recall off your ship key, like a recall rune, to travel to your ship.

Logging out on Ships

There is no instant log out on a boat, like there is in a home.  When you log back in, if the ship has been moved, and you’re no longer on a valid boat tile, your character is sent to a nearby land tile.

Controlling Boats

Once you are on the boat, you can say commands to the Tillerman to get the boat to move, stop moving, turn, lower anchor, raise anchor, etc.  You can type >boat in-game to load a boating gump to make it easier to control your ship.

Storing Items on Ships

Items on your ship deck do not decay but can be taken by anyone with access.

Be careful where you park your ships. Players who have logged out on boats near banks or common docks may be waiting to log back into the game on your boat. It is highly recommended that you don’t use your ship for storing valuables long term.

Boat Decay

Your boat will decay after 14 days if it is not refreshed. Visiting your boat and using the plank will refresh the ship.

  • …looks like new. Nearly 14 days until collapse.
  • …looks slightly worn. 1%+ towards collapse
  • …looks somewhat worn. 25% towards collapse.
  • …looks fairly worn. 50%+ towards collapse
  • …looks greatly worn. 75%+ towards collapse.
  • …is in danger of collapse.  95%+ towards collapse.

Drydocking Boats

If you want to pull your ship out of the water, you’ll need to remove all items from the haul and deck.  Once the ship is clear of all items, NPCs, and PCs, you can left click on the Tiller Man for a Dry Dock Ship option. This will turn the ship into a blessed boat model which can be double-clicked to place again.
