Stealing
Skill Title: Pickpocket
Skill Trainer: Thief, Thief Guildmaster
How to Use Stealing
Stealing lets you take items from containers that don’t belong to you, including items from other player’s backpacks. Thieves who join the Thieves’ Guild cannot report other players for murder.
Stealing skill is used by thieves to take items from players, NPCs, or containers owned by NPCs. Stealing from innocent targets may result in you becoming criminally flagged for a minute.
There are 4 common outcomes to stealing:
- Total Success. Successfully steal the item, stay blue, no one sees you. You become perma-grey from this action, if you were not already previously.
- Partial Success. Successfully steal the item, but you turn grey. You become perma-grey from this action, if you were not already previously.
- Failure. Failure to steal the item, but you are not seen. You become perma-grey from this action, if you were not already previously.
- Critical Failure. Failure to steal the item, you turn grey, and if you are in town and an NPC or player calls guards… you get a fancy new (death) robe.

Tip for Gaining: Optimize your training by increasing the stolen item’s weight as your skill increases.(Stealing Skill/10), rounded down. For example, at 78 stealing, steal items that weigh 7 stones.
